You are correct, a Platform project is what’s needed, and acceptance or rejection of the certification request usually by lazy consensus after two weeks. They opened the issue 3 weeks ago.
(Since Platform project is on “summer break” and many Platform committers are in the Spec Committee as well, I sent the email that way.)
