Added some comments.
Short version: It's ok for us to hope for one thing and end up with another. We should adjust based on where we actually landed vs where we hoped to land.
We didn't really create any Java 21 innovations, so what advantage do we get by forbidding vendors to sell to the Java 17 audience?
Not a fan of the Apple style of "innovation" where you just remove things for the sake of removing them.
Again, if we had Java 21 features there'd be no discussion.
