Re: [jakarta.ee-spec.committee] Need more assistance from Spec Committee members!

Hi Andrew,It looks like
you are now in the system. I don't know if my note jogged some processing,
or if it just took a bit to clear all of the hurdles. But, I see
this morning that you are now listed. Thanks! Thanks for taking
a look at Authorization. At least Arjan has been through the process
before, so it shouldn't be too bad to prep for the ballot. Let me
(or others) know if you hit any problems.

Is there some action
I myself need to take to get made a committer? I had an email adding me
to something ages ago which I accepted (deleted and wiped now so
can't see what it was), I assumed it was to the spec repo since it followed
shortly after the original email about me not being a committer.I've started making
my way through Authorization, and I've been helping out Matt a bit internally.
Like Matt though I'm new to the process so can only offer limited help.Andrew

Subject: [jakarta.ee-spec.committee] Need more assistance from Spec
Committee members! Hi,
We need more Spec Committee participation with the PR mentoring and reviewing.
I'm going to be blunt and just call out some of the issues I am finding...
FYI, there are many people very much involved with this Spec PR mentoring
process. Thank you! I just need to highlight some areas of
potential improvement.
For reference, here are the Mentoring assignments: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1KaSQBfiyJc2whfQdeuQ1Y7mXnnUnnCuiE-nAqUq5Foo/edit
Primeton (Scott Wang) is not even in the Specifications repository yet
as a committer. So, I can not assign any of the PRs to him for mentoring.
I don't know if this is an issue with Scott not following through
on the committer process, or if there's an issue on the EF side. But,
if this can not be resolved very soon, then we'll have to find alternate
mentors for the Specifications assigned to Scott Wang.
https://github.com/jakartaee/specifications/pull/242(cdi)
Red Hat seems to only have one participant - Scott Stark. Mark Little
is listed in the doc above, but he's not a committer on the Specifications
repo so he can't really help out. Scott, is there someone else that could
help with your mentoring duties? The following PRs need mentoring
assistance from RH:
https://github.com/jakartaee/specifications/pull/172(activation)
https://github.com/jakartaee/specifications/pull/230(xml
binding)
Tomitribe's Cesar has been active with a couple of PRs (Thank You!), but
he could probably use an assist from David and/or Jean-Louis. Jean-Louis
is still missing from the committer list for Specifications repo as well.
Spec PRs that need more mentoring assistance from Tomitribe:
https://github.com/jakartaee/specifications/pull/239(authentication)
One of Payara's reps have asked questions about mentoring (Thank You, Matt!),
but we are still looking for some in-depth reviewing of the assigned Specification
PRs. Also, Andrew Pielage is still not in the system as a Committer,
so Matt is the only one. Is there someone else from Payara that could
help Matt with this exercise? PRs that need some mentoring assistance:
https://github.com/jakartaee/specifications/pull/241(authorization)
https://github.com/jakartaee/specifications/pull/225(_expression_
language)
Participant members also look to require some assistance. Martijn
is the only one in the system currently. Andrew Pielage is not listed
as a Committer, so I can't assign any PRs to him for review. In any
case, it looks we need some assistance with getting these PRs reviewed:
https://github.com/jakartaee/specifications/pull/227(jsonp)
https://github.com/jakartaee/specifications/pull/231(soap)
We really need more active mentorship in order to accomplish our goals
-- even if the date does slip as was discussed on the Steering Committee
call. I know there are many vacations this time of year, and we're
in the middle of this pandemic, and who knows what else is happening with
everybody's lives... All that I am asking is that we have open communication
with our current situations. If there's an issue with this mentoring
activity, please raise the issue. We need to know the issues so that
we might be able to react. Otherwise, I'm only left with these blunt
notes..
If someone volunteers to pick any of these PRs up or trades with somebody,
please update the google doc above so that we know who is doing what. And,
assign yourself as a Reviewer on the designated PRs. Thanks!
And, speaking of vacations... I am taking the rest of this week off. :-)
I'll be back on Monday.
