The specification committee has put out two approaches regarding restrictions on javax package namespace use for the community to consider, Big Bang and Incremental. Based on the input we got from the community and discussions within the Working Group, the specification committee has not been able to reach consensus on what approach should be taken, until work on the binary compatibility is further explored. With that in mind the Working Group members will invest time to work on highly functioning tool for binary compatibility and then propose / decide on an option that is the best for customers, vendors and developers.
Binary Compatibility
To address binary compatibility, we need the following:
Design / architecture document with detailed explanation of binary compatibility and how to achieve it
Proof of Concept to indicate effectiveness of binary compatibility
An implementation to demonstrate binary compatibility
Time-frame for completion is Feb 2020
