Re: [jakarta.ee-spec.committee] Jakarta Batch project

The EMO pushes a notice out on Twitter, and sends a notice to the PMC.

e.g. https://www.eclipse.org/lists/ee4j-pmc/msg01613.html

In the past, we also sent out a notice to all members and committers, but we stopped that practice in response to feedback that we'd been overusing that list.

The best way to track the progress is to subscribe for notifications on the bugzilla record that we create to track the progress of the project proposal. Unfortunately, I don't see a link to that in the email that I referenced above. I'll have Cydnie change update the EMO process to include that link.

Finally, you can get a list of all in-progress proposals on the Project Activity page or by querying Bugzilla. Note that the bugzilla query reports a much larger list as we keep the tracking bugs open until after the project completes its first release.

At some level this project is just another Eclipse project, and most of my questions apply to any kind of Eclipse project.  I'm trying to understand how to keep track of any project that might come through EE4J.

(I haven't dug into the details of this project yet so I don't have any specific questions there yet.)

Bill,
Maybe I'm putting words into Wayne's mouth, but I think this is some of the growing pains of this Spec Projects and associated process.  We have not formally taken any projects through the process yet.  The Jakarta Batch Spec Project has been in a working state since late last year.  We've been working through the naming, scope, and description updates -- just like the rest of the Oracle-led Spec Projects.  We now feel comfortable with the content, so it should be ready for a Creation Review.  Based on the discussion today, I think Wayne was trying to target this first set of Spec Projects for the June 5 Eclipse Review.  But, we also discussed the need for a vote, which hasn't taken place yet.

If you do have specific comments or issues on the content of the project proposal, let us know so that we can resolve them before the vote and review becomes real.  Thanks.

It was good to hear about the progress on the Jakarta Batch project
in today's meeting, but it seemed like I should've heard more about
that sooner.  I want back to my email to see what I missed.

I found an announcement of the project proposal that was sent to the
PMC and Community lists in December of last year, but nothing since.
No wonder I'd lost track of it!

That led me to the project proposal [1], from which I learned that a
Creation Review has been started that ends June 5.  Surely the Creation
Review wasn't started back in December, right?  Or if it was, the end
date wouldn't have been set to June 5, would it?

I'm surprised there was no notification of the start of the Creation Review,
and/or the change of the end date to June 5.  Is there some other email
or notification that I'm missing?  Is there a Bugzilla entry I should
be watching?

I guess voting for this project's Creation Review doesn't start until
May 29, which is why I haven't seen any recent discussion of it on the
mailing lists.

I just want to make sure I'm able to track the state changes of all these
projects once things start to get busy for Jakarta EE 8.

Thanks.
