Re: [ide-dev] Highlights for 2020-12 landing page
|
Hi Lakshmi,
Thanks for sharing.
In my view, the top 5 of the 2020-12 release:
1. Built-in Java 15 support ("built-in" since in 2020-09 Java 15 was
already available via the Marketplace; if I understand it correctly,
when using Maven or Gradle, JUnit 5.7 behaves in 2020-12 exactly the
same as it did in 2020-09)
2. Java 15 included: the two most popular IDE packages, "Eclipse IDE for
Java Developers" and "Eclipse IDE for Enterprise Java Developers", are
shipped with Java 15 now (thanks to JustJ)
3. New IDE package: "Eclipse IDE for Embedded C/C++ Developers"
targeting ARM and RISC-V (this increases the total number of provided
IDE packages to 14)
4. Java IDE with 25 new clean-up functions (can be automatically applied
on save as so-called "Save Actions" or manually on one or more source files)
5. New "System" theme for Windows, Linux and macOS which is not enabled
by default and improved "Light" theme for macOS
I am currently working on my next Eclipse Java IDE improvements video.
Please tell me if I have something missed or wrong:

Hi all,
The Eclipse IDE landing page highlights some of the features of the release.
For example: Please see landing pages for the past 2 releases -
https://www.eclipse.org/eclipseide/2020-09/
<https://www.eclipse.org/eclipseide/2020-09/> and
https://www.eclipse.org/eclipseide/2020-06
<https://www.eclipse.org/eclipseide/2020-06>.
For 2020-12 release, we would like to gather inputs from the community
on features that can be highlighted on the page.
For the 2020-12 release, we have these items so far:
1. Latest Java and JUnit support
2. New ‘System’ theme and updated Mac light theme
3. Improved Java Development Tooling
Please respond if you think any other features or points can be added to
the page for this release.
Thanks in advance!
Thanks & Regards,
