Yes, this was the beginning of the end.

It was for sure the beginning of a difficult era for the IDE (as perceived by users), but I don't see any end on the horizon.

Forget the rest of it. Yes, this is exactly the point. The chart showed Eclipse at 41%. I’ll take that any day. The only thing that ended was Eclipse’s lead with Java IDEs.
