Re: [geomesa-users] geomesa 1.0 release

Hi Martin,

This is a great question.  The Eclipse Foundation examines projects closely during their incubation phase in order to verify any IP issues are resolved.  This process is rather involved, and we are close to being done.  I think we can expect to have an official release in 1-2 months.  That depends on a number of external factors, and this represents my best estimate.

All that said, GeoMesa is fully ready to go and is deployed in a number of operational environments.  We have cut a number of release candidates (https://github.com/locationtech/geomesa/releases).  Some Maven artifacts are available at https://repo.locationtech.org.*  Long term, we will be publishing artifacts there.  In the meantime, I would suggest building GeoMesa from source on a Linux box and taking a few minutes to update the versions of Hadoop, Accumulo, and ZooKeeper in the main pom.xml.

Other than Accumulo 1.6 support, do you have any further concerns I can address?

For Accumulo 1.6, we had been doing some work to maintain a branch here: https://github.com/locationtech/geomesa/tree/accumulo6.  It definitely is not 100% up-to-date.  Some of our other engineers may be able to speak up about what was required to make the branch go.

I think we will be making more of an effort to support Accumulo versions 1.5 and 1.6 soon.  At the minute, we have a lot of cool work happening, and sadly, we haven't been able to document all of it and support every details as much as I would like.

Thanks for asking.  If we can do something to make adopting GeoMesa easier, let us know.

Jim

* There is a known issue with some older Maven clients and some particular detail of the repo.locationtech.org server.  I'm working with the Eclipse Foundation devops engineers to resolve it.  If you have trouble accessing the artifacts there, we can discuss how to work around the issues.

Hello list,

can someone give me a hint when the first release including maven artifacts can be expected?

In addition I’m interested in the current state of Accumulo 1.6 integration, any plans for this?

Thanks for your help.
