Binary attributes are very useful in many cases, such as storing serialized avro records or protobuf messages in simple features, etc. We'd like to be able to read and process these attributes in Spark SQL. For feature completeness, support for List, Map and UUID should also be added to Spark SQL.

We'll support Bytes, List and Map first. Supporting UUID involves adding new UDTs, which deserves its own ticket.
