Re: [elogbook-dev] Angular 4.0.0 vs. 4.4.6 vs. 5.2.9

Hi Oliver,

the project eLogbook is mostly done and we are currently working on the next EPL project. In this we started to use version 5.2.0 but after your message we consider using the 5.2.9. I'm pretty sure we will do so.

Greetings from Mannheim,
Jonas

Betreff: [elogbook-dev] Angular 4.0.0 vs. 4.4.6 vs. 5.2.9

Hi,

I posted my comment to CQ 15944. Since it is "Type A" license, it does not cause much effort to be checked. In Eclipse Winery, we are "Type B", which is much more work (on both sides) to get libraries approved.
Therefore, I am asking you guys whether it is possible that we both use the same Angular version to reduce the heavy load on the Eclipse IP team.

I saw that you are asking for Angular 4.0.0, which was released on 24 March, 2017. The (next) bugfix version was released 6 days later. The last version in the 4.x line is 4.4.6.

In the context of Eclipse Winery, we also want to use Angular, but are struggling with the CQs currently (see https://dev.eclipse.org/ipzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=13951).

Currently, we are using Angular 4.3.5
(https://github.com/eclipse/winery/blob/78ef7554a56ae8458fc1aeb4e7fa3c7e64bafdbe/org.eclipse.winery.repository.ui/package.json#L21)

Is there a special reason why you stick on 4.0.0? Can you also use Angular
4.3.5 or update to an even later version? See https://angular-update-guide.firebaseapp.com/ for necessary updates between certain Angular versions.

I would propose an update to Angular 4.4.6, released 19 October, 2017, because
a) it is the latest in the 4.x series, b) an update does not seem to be hard, and c) Winery also uses Angular 4.x. So we could use synergy effects.

Maybe, we could also have a joined update to Angular 5.2.9 (latest in the 5 series)?

Greetings from Stuttgart,

Oliver

P.S.: If you want, we can have a short call. Just send me a short email.
