Dear Edge Native Community;
We have some exciting news to share. The Edge Native Working Group is being transitioned to the IoT Working Group as a Special Interest Group (SIG).
Throughout its lifetime of the Edge Native Working Group the Steering Committee has been active in driving the initiative forward. However, over the past months, it became evident that a distinct working group on its own merits would be better aligned with the IoT Working Group in continuing to drive the evolution and broad adoption of technologies related to Edge Computing.
Nothing has changed in its mission or vision and scope; instead the Steering Committee has taken the step of recommending that the working group be restructured as a Special Interest Group of the IoT Working Group.
The Steering Committee’s recommendation, consistent with the Eclipse Foundation Working Group Process [1] was approved by the Executive Director of the Eclipse Foundation and the Iot Steering Committee subsequently embraced and approved the creation of the Edge Native Special Interest Group. We will begin the necessary effort to formally wrap up the Edge Native Working Group itself. All Working Group Participation Agreements with the Edge Native Members shall automatically terminate as a result.
We want to emphasize that the Edge Native projects that have been under the purview of the Edge Native working group remain active; the wrap up of the formal working group has no impact whatsoever on the projects, their viability, etc. We encourage all those interested in the working group to continue to follow the related projects and follow or join the IoT Working Group to engage as a participant of the Edge Native Special Interest Group!
On behalf of the Eclipse Foundation, thank you to everyone in the Edge Native community for the work accomplished and the collaboration seen and a special thank you to Kilton Hopkins, Angelo Corsaro, Robert Andres and Nicola La Gloria as well as all other dedicated members for their commitment and contribution!
Please feel free to contact the undersigned or Frédéric Desbiens should you have any questions.
