Reminder: EclipseCon is next week https://www.eclipsecon.org/2020 (October 19-22)

  1. Cloud to Edge Continuum and the EdgeOps matrix

Kilton Hopkins presented the diagrams that will be the core of our Edge Landscape white paper. Those include:

  1. IEC 62443 security standards
Robert Andres delivered a presentation on the IEC 62443 group of security standards. The standards are comprehensive and products can also be certified against them.

Eurotech are working to certify some of their products.

  1. Data access at the Edge and permissions

Meeting attendees had a discussion on data access permissions on edge nodes. Traditional user-based permissions are only one of the dimensions to consider. Geo-fencing, for example, is essential to protect data sovereignty in highly regulated industries such as healthcare. Ultimately, geographical restrictions and other restrictions should be considered in a comprehensive approach to permissions.

  1. ESXi for ARM
During the meeting, Steven Wong from VMWare shared with the group information about their latest offering for ARM, which is in the preview phase. Below are links that Steve provided about it.

ESXi hypervisor for ARM “fling” free preview announced
