Dear Sharon,

we are just in the process of internal clarifications. Can you please confirm/answer the following points:

  • The charter states that there are at least two seats allocated to Gold members. Since we are the only Gold member, does that mean that we could have two seats (if we want them)?
  • Deadline for our nomination/ interest is March 3, correct?
  • Do you need any specific information for the nomination, or is the name, affiliation, and email enough?
  • Since there are public holidays this week, we have difficulties to confirm the nominations internally. Anyways, we would nominate a person by the deadline. Maybe we would want to switch persons shortly after the nomination deadline, is that possible? For sure it will be someone from Siemens.
  • Can you provide us with a list of current members (Strategic, Gold, Silver, Committer)?

Thanks and best regards,

Harald

Dr. Harald Mueller

Betreff: [edge-wg] Edge Native Working Group Steering Committee - Election Time

The Eclipse Edge Native Working Group Charter [1] identifies two key committees to drive the various facets of the working group for which there are elected positions to be filled: the Steering Committee and the Marketing and Brand Committee.  At the inaugural Steering Committee Meeting held January 23, 2020, it was agreed that the Steering Committee would represent both the Steering Committee and the Marketing and Brand Committee at this time.

The elected positions are to represent the Silver, Gold and Committer Members. Note that Strategic Members each have a representative appointed to these committees.

Through this email, we are announcing that the Foundation will hold elections on behalf of the working group using the proposed timetable listed below.  FYI, this mimics the process used by other working groups as well as the process used by the Eclipse Foundation itself for filling the elected positions on our Board.

All members are encouraged to consider nominating someone for the positions, and self-nominations are welcome.  Nominations may be sent to elections@xxxxxxxxxxx.

Once nominations are closed, we will inform all working group members of the candidates, and will distribute ballots via email to those eligible to vote.  The election process will follow the Eclipse “Single Transferable Vote” method, as defined in the Eclipse Bylaws [2].

The winning candidates will be announced on this mailing list immediately after the elections are concluded.

Election Schedule

Nomination period: February 24 - March 3, 2020 (self nominations are welcome)

Election period:  March 6 - March 18, 2020

Winning candidates announced:  March 20, 2020

The following positions will be filled as part of this election if applicable:

Steering Committee

Two seats allocated for Gold Members

One seat allocated for Silver Members

One seat allocated for Committer Member

Marketing and Brand Committee

No elections as the Steering Committee will represent both Committees at this time.
