I have enough USB keys. However I will need to communicate with the
registered attendees prior to the course -- to get as many of them to
install the software as possible, since that's the biggest time sink.

By the way, I don't need any student helpers.

You can add "bonus steps" to an exercise to keep the keeners busy while the slower attendees catch up. There will usually be a wide range of experience levels in the audience - some will finish the exercise while you are introducing it, and others will still be trying to get Eclipse installed/started when the time runs out...
