Thank-you everyone for sending me your early-bird picks (and sending them before the dead-line). To prepare for tomorrow's meeting, I've organized all of your picks. There are 3 that really stand out:
Between 6-7 votes each!
Looking at the categories, we have Eclipse/RCP, CoolStuff and CoolStuff. However, I would argue that the CloudIDE connection talk could also be considered tools / lifecycle.
After these three, there is a real mix of talks. In fact, no other talk had more than 3 picks. Here are the ones with 3:
If we follow Ian S's advice and skip the invited talks, this removes Road-Lambda. I think the libreoffice / jenkins talk looks interesting, but I have a few concerns
[1. They appear to be picking a fight with Jenkins in their title, but don't back that up, 2. I'm not really sure what sort of analysis they've done, or what authority they have to speak on the success of LibreOffice -- that is, is it just their opinion or do they have real evidence].
I think both of these talks will be accepted for the conference, but I'm not sure they need 'early bird acceptance'. That leaves 5!
As a bonus (as far as I can tell), none of these are talks by PC Members. Unfortunately there are no Modelling or Java/Java 8 talks -- but when you have 7 categories and are only picking 5, that's bound to happen.
These 5 are not final -- I want to discuss this tomorrow. So, if you think we're missing something, disagree with my analysis or think one of these are crap, please bring this up tomorrow at the meeting.
Thanks again everyone!
Ian
