Re: [eclipsecon-na-program-committee] Call for Papers and Keynote Update

Sorry I missed the call today everyone. I got a call from my kid's school and he was feeling sick so I had to dash off and pick him up (nothing too serious). I will look through the minutes and make sure I am caught up.

+1 from me for Limor Fried as well. I find it a bit embarrassing that we have never had a female keynote speaker at EclipseCon and the subject also looks cool. Actually all of Cedric's suggestions below look good to me.

Cedric,

Thanks for these. Fwiw, I really like the Limor Fried idea. The video of her is really good.

I'm throwing a few more ideas for keynotes :

- Somebody from Square, they have an interesting take on OSS. (see
http://square.github.io/)
- Misko Hevery from AngularJS : a framework with a huge bump of popularity and on the other hand Misko gave a lot of talk about testing and code quality in Java (you can watch some of them there .

- Limor Fried from Adafruit : open-source hardware and DIY (

Thanks for the update Ian.

Here is what I think we need to cover tomorrow [1]:

1. More keynote ideas (see below for another idea)
2. Process for invited speakers
3. CfP Marketing -- getting the word out

Another idea for a keynote is someone from the docker project [2]. Docker is an open source project focused on delivering software. Solomon Hykes is the founder of the company behind docker [3].

I've added him and Tim Bray (thanks Shawn) to our wiki.

Cheers,

All,

Just so you know the EclipseCon Call for Papers is now live. Please promote to your networks and communities.

For keynotes, I have not been successful with Arduino or Red Hat. Tomorrow during our call we will need to talk about the other alternatives. https://www.eclipsecon.org/na2014/cfp
