Re: [eclipsecon-na-program-committee] Welcome to EclipseCon 2014!
|
Hi Ian,
I did receive the email but still getting
caught up from holidays. I have now filled in the doodle poll. I have a
regular conflict at 11am EDT on Thursdays, but I can miss that once a month
if that time works for others. On Fridays I am usually completely open,
but it happens next week I have an intake interview at my kid's school
so I likely can't make September 6th.

Welcome to EclipseCon 2014!

Last week I sent a welcome email to the list and a link
to a doodle so we can pick the time for our first meeting. Unfortunately
nobody has responded to the poll yet. I'm not sure if that's because everyone
is busy / on vacation, or because the email didn't actually get delivered.
Did anybody receive an email from me last week? (Ian and
Anne also sent an email to the list).
Cheers,
Ian

Thanks to everyone for agreeing
to help out with the EclipseCon PC. I am looking forward to another great
conference.
One thing we need to start
working on is the keynotes. It would be great if we can start suggesting
ideas on the wiki. https://www.eclipsecon.org/wiki/2014_Program_Committee#Ideas
Thanks

Hi everyone, and welcome to the EclipseCon 2014 Program
Committee!
Thank-you so much for agreeing to join the PC! I'm really
looking forward to working with all of you. For those of you that have
been on the PC before, welcome back. For those of you that are new to the
Program Committee, Welcome! and please don't hesitate to ping me if you
have any questions.
EclipseCon has always been my favourite conference. The
technical content is outstanding, the opportunities for collaboration are
endless and the Eclipse Family is one of the friendliness groups of people
I've ever met.
Ian S. and I tried to put together a diverse committee
with representation from all around the Eclipse community. While each of
you have technical expertise in different areas of Eclipse, I'm really
hoping that everyone participates in the selection of the entire program.
This really is 'our' EclipseCon, let's make it a great one!
Over the next few months the Program Committee will focus
on the following things:
1. Decide
on themes and topic areas.
2. Help
identify keynote speakers.
3. Identify
and invite other speakers that might not otherwise consider EclipseCon.
4. Help
promote the call for submissions.
5. Pick
the early bird (if we choose to have this again). Everyone will be asked
to pick their Top 5 and we will see if an obvious set falls out.
6. Pick
the program and ensure that we have a critical mass in each topic area.
For this we will use an on-line voting tool. Everyone will rank each submission,
and then we will go through each theme and find the best 10-15 talks for
each one.
7. Help
promote the conference.
8. Enjoy
the conference!
The first order of business will be a kick-off meeting
to get to know one another and to help identify next steps. We will use
the Eclipse Foundation conference facility for this.
We are hoping for the week of Sept 2. I've suggested Thursday
or Friday (Sept 5 or 6) around 8:30am PDT, 11:30am EDT, 5:30pm CET. I've
setup a doodle [1]. If this doesn't work well we can try and find another
time.

Thanks again!

Hello all,
Ian B. has the program committee almost finalized, and
our first call will be the week of September 2. Watch for more about scheduling
that.
I have added everyone to this mailing list, and created
an EclipseCon wiki account for the first-timers. If you are getting a new
account, please look for an email with your account credentials. Let me
know if you don't see that or have questions about the wiki.
For those of you with wiki accounts who have forgotten
your credentials, your login ID is FirstnameLastname. You can deal with
a forgotten password on the login page here: https://www.eclipsecon.org/conwiki/index.php?title=Special:Userlogin
The program committee wiki page is here: https://www.eclipsecon.org/wiki/2014_Program_Committee
There's a link there to the main wiki page if you want
to go there for some reason.
FYI, the website will be up soon!
