Re: [eclipsecon-na-program-committee] Tutorials

I just wanted to add that "test automation" is one of the ALM connect focus areas and it was a deliberate decision to move most of the Jubula talks into ALM Connect. The few left in tools/other are a hybrid of Jubula and other Eclipse projects (Nebula, GEF, and Scout).

The Jubula tutorial might not make it as part of the ALM Connect track. We have had a Jubula tutorial for I think the last 3 EclipseCon conferences so I am thinking we could miss it this time.  If people feel strongly that we need a Jubula tutorial, we can take another look.

Btw, I do believe some of the Jubula talks will get accepted in ALM Connect.

Re: [eclipsecon-na-program-committee] Tutorials

Thanks John,

Yes, the dividing line does look pretty clean. I'm happy with this list.

On a related note: I noticed that there were an awful lot of Jubula talks (7 proposed talks between ALM & EclipseCon) and we rejected all the ones earmarked for EclipseCon. While none of these talks piqued my interest, want to ensure that we're not doing the community a disservice. The Jubula tutorial was originally marked for EclipseCon and it was moved to ALM. Right now it's not marked as 'IN' for ALM, although it appears to be next-in-line. If it was left as EclipseCon it would have been accepted.

Sorry for the email blast today. We didn't have time to talk about tutorials in the call today. However I just reviewed them and I think we are in good shape. Ian S advised we will have 10 tutorial slots for EclipseCon (+6 for Agile/OSGi DevCON). When I sort by votes, there is a clear dividing line after the first ten already. Those top ten include representatives for all the major categories, and I think they cover all the popular tutorial bases nicely: CDT, Tycho/build, Server development, Mobile/M2M, Eclipse 4, Web, modeling and DSL. As we said on the call today all the BIRT talks were rejected, and they do have a solid consumer community, so it is nice to see their tutorial in the list. I think all ten are technical experts in those domains with good speaking/teaching experience. I am quite happy with this list and don't have any proposed changes. Please take a look at the list and comment if you think something is missing, or if one of those 10 shouldn't be there. We can also review on Thursday's call if needed.

John
