Re: [eclipsecon-na-program-committee] Nature of Code

I browsed the book last night while watching EclipseCon submissions arrive. I agree with John, I don't think it will resonate with the Eclipse community. Maybe as a speaker the author would have a message to deliver, but if the book is our only reference point then I wasn't too excited.

Another person we talked about before was Greg Wilson. IIRC, we like some of other speakers (those speaking about process) a bit better. I'm not sure if any of those speakers accepted (I don't think the Twitter / GitHub combo overlaps, but maybe I'm wrong). Is it worth revisiting him, or do you think that's too related to other keynotes we have?

cheers,
ian

I have never seen it before but I have now taken a look. I'm a bit mixed on it. There is some cool looking stuff in there, but in the end it looks like a fairly straight-forward game programming textbook and not something earth shattering or new. There would likely be some nice eye candy but I don't know that the core EclipseCon audience would be into the subject. Curious to hear what others think.

Has anyone read this book? It looks interesting and I was wondering if the author might be a good EclipseCon keynote?
