Re: [eclipsecon-na-program-committee] Kickoff Metting follow-up

Indeed, my question was in jest. I think we need another year of Eclipse 4 at least to drive home the message that there's something new afoot.

I am sure there won't be any exciting new
talks about Eclipse Platform 3.x ;) But I think from a marketing
perspective we need to make it clear to attendees that there will be content
specifically about Eclipse Platform 4. From the CFP perspective I don't
think it matters too much either way - as Doug suggests any Eclipse Platform
content will certainly be about v4.

Hi,
I personally would like to see a Eclipse 4 category. I
believe there is still a lot of interest in the changes of the platform
and it feels that the other categories do not cover that correctly. Maybe
that would be covered by "tools" or "runtime".
September 10, 20:00 CET would work great for me.
Best regards, Lars

Hi Ian,
Thanks for following up! If I heard correctly, Ian S is planning to draft
a call for papers which will include the proposed topic areas. I think
in addition to the ones you listed, there is also "Tools" and
"Community/Other". I think "tools" and "runtimes"
are broad enough to capture anything we missed, but having an "Other
Cool Stuff" category is helpful for speakers who just don't know where
to submit their talk.
The other area to start thinking about is Keynotes. We should be thinking
about topic areas that we want to see, or even better throw out specific
speaker names. I suggest everyone give it some thought and we can discuss
at the next call. You can also add suggestions either here or on the list
or in the wiki:
https://www.eclipsecon.org/wiki/2013_Program_Committee#Keynote_Suggestions
I think we should aim for September 10 for the next call. The main focus
will be reviewing the call for papers, and brainstorming keynotes. Anne
do you typically send out invites for the calls or should I? If I heard
everyone correctly, a slightly later timeslot works better (11:00 PT, 14:00
ET, 20:00 CET).

Hi everyone,
I thought I would start a thread to follow-up from our kickoff meeting
last week. Before the audio cut-out and we lost Ottawa, I think we
agreed to try and come up with a list of 'themes' or 'labels' for the conference
(sorry, I don't remember the exact term that Ian S. used).
IIRC, the list we had were:
- ALM (via ALM Connect)
- OSGi (via OSGi Dev Con)
- Eclipse RT
- Modeling
- Mobile
- Web
Did I miss any?
Looking at the list of Eclipse top level projects [1], there appears to
be a few areas that are not covered. Namely 'Business Reporting', 'Data
Tools' and 'SOA'. (Note: I assumed that Mylyn & TPTP == ALM (I
thought TPTP was archived though), and Tools and Technologies are rather
broad areas that can likely be covered by one of the categories above).

Were there other things we were supposed to discuss before the next meeting?
Cheers,
Ian B.
