I asked Cedric Brun from Obeo to provide a new abstract for a
modeling tutorial. I really believe we need more modeling content
to be relevant to our modeling community. I think Cedric has done a
nice job coming up with a very practical tutorial.
Is the PC okay to have this the final tutorial?

Hi Ian,
Here is a rough abstract, modeling is not the topic, the topic is
automating part of your work building a tool within Eclipse, Eclipse
Modeling being only
a mean to achieve that quickly. Do you think Modeling should appear
in the title anyway ?
Overall, how do you feel about this abstract ?

Tool up your applications development: Chrome App example
During this tutorial we will build an Eclipse tooling
dedicated to the development of Chrome application using Eclipse
Modeling technologies. From a prototype of a home power
consumption tracking application you'll learn how to build a
tooling enabling the design and generation of other similar
applications.
We will first start by using one of the most popular technology
of the Eclipse Foundation, EMF, to define the necessary concepts
for a Chrome application, then, in a second part, we will create
a ready to go solution to be able to instantly manipulate those
concepts and finally during the third part of this tutorial, we
will create code generators to generate the Chrome application.
This tutorial will give people the opportunity to manipulate
some code with exercises, so bring your laptop and you'll leave
with a working Eclipse tooling to generate Chrome applications.
The talk will cover the following topic:
- building a specific tooling to design Chrome applications
- generating your Chrome application
- going further with the customization of the Eclipse
platform
People attending this tutorial will learn how to build tools
for their domain on top of the Eclipse platform. Starting with
the definition of the concepts of a domain, after that we will
see how we can customize the Eclipse platform to build tools for
the manipulation of those concepts and then attendees will learn
how to build an efficient code generator to speed up their
development.

Hi
Ian,
thanks for keeping us in touch, we would gladly submit one for
PC consideration.
It's a bit late here but I'll work on the abstract tomorrow
morning.

Cedric and Etienne,
One of our tutorial slots has opened up. We did not get a
lot of modeling tutorials submitted so I wanted to see if you
guys had any suggestions? If you would like to do one, I
would be happy to submit your abstract to the PC for
consideration. Fyi, I really need to get this resolved this
week, so I would need a rough abstract tomorrow.
FWIW, it would likely be schedule to run at the same time at
the EMF tutorial or the Modelign Symposium.
Thanks
Ian
