DSL counts for the modeling category. We currently have only 15 talks of the initially allocated 20 modeling&DSL talks. Also I know one of the presenters of the DSL talk you mention. He's a very talented developer and I'm sure he's going to do a good presentation. On Nov 29, 2011, at 6:19 PM, John Arthorne wrote: I'm not liking my choices here ;(
From my perspective, we've got to have
the Dali talk because it would be the solitary talk from the whole Web
Tools top-level project. I also hate the idea of cutting the tracing talk
because mobile is quite poorly represented relative to the huge size of
the mobile tooling community on Eclipse. I also agree with Ian that
the Ceylon talk would be great, and the managing large/distributed EclipseRT
apps looks really interesting too. Modeling is under-represented so cutting
there hurts too. The e4 talk is the only obvious one for me to vote against
(ironically given this is the area I'm working).
Of course if we take more than two of
these, we have to cut something else. This is the hard part - we've all
voted for things to save but not many volunteering things to cut. I think
we agree we can't cut more from Modelling or Mobile because they are already
quite thin. I am wondering about the DSL track though. Currently we have
11 accepted DSL talks and one tutorial. This is a hot area so it's great
that we have a lot of content. However looking through them, it looks like
we have 7 DSL "case study" talks accepted. In other areas we
cut case studies because there was more than one, but here we have a large
number. To put it another way, we have as many DSL case studies as we have
talks about Eclipse 4.x or mobile. So, I'm wondering what people think
about putting one of those on the bubble. Out of those, my bubble pick
would be:

I can't find any information on the
web about Jnario apart from that github page with a short summary. Is it
open source, proprietary, can I even get it? Will we learn something about
xtext in this talk that we won't get from the other 6 case studies?
Anyway, I know cutting is painful but
wanted to throw that out there.
John
OK. No one has suggested new bubbles so
we have a selection of 6 of which we need to select 2.
Please take a look at the list (search
using the ‘bubble’ tag). Put a 5 vote on the two you’d like to see and
not a 5 on the others. I’ll use my magic tool to count the 5 votes and
take other things into consideration and bring the two I see as winners
to the meeting on Thursday.
Thanks!
Doug.
P.S. Said magic tool is here: https://www.eclipsecon.org/2012/conference-admin/sessions/vote-breakdown.xls
