[eclipse.org-planning-council] Re: Eclipse Foundation certificate expiration date

That same question came up in Sept. 2005 and it was determined at the
time that the signature follows the cert (ie, code is signed
permanently, you simply cannot sign new code with an expired cert).
Verisign only sells 1, 2 and 3 year certs, and we bought the 3-year.

These certs are fairly expensive, so I can't imagine that a three-year
cert is only practical to use for 2 years.

I've submitted a request to Verisign to confirm all this, just to be on
the safe side...

Hi *,

just one question, it may be a stupid one, but maybe it is more important question than I think. I was looking into a .jar signed with the Foundation certificate and found 15/04/09 01:59 as date of its expiry.

This is less than a year from now on, which means that the jar's are signed with a certificate that will be expired before we will see the next major release.

Is this what we intended? Does it cause any problems in the future? Any other unexpected side-effects?
