Re: [eclipse.org-planning-council] Bjorn "Knuckles" the Ganymede Enforcer asks a question about STP...

At this point, I think voting them "off the island" would be too harsh.

I think we should give them more time.  Oisin has been compensating for some key resource departures in the build domain.  The Buckminster team is pitching in to help, and Oisin believes his team can have things on track by the end of the weekend.

I think the time to address this issue will be when the overall integrity of the release train is at risk.  If that's today, fine.  If that's early next week, let's do it then.

I understand the importance of adherence to the process.  However, I think lending a helping hand to someone who's trying hard (as STP is)  is also a key value we should support!

So I vote -1 to voting them off, if we're voting as a matter of principle, rather than out of concern for the overall release.

Ganymedians,
Given that:
  1. STP has bad data in their feature files: https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=236640
  2. STP doesn't yet sign or pack their jars (information from today's release review call)
    1. See http://wiki.eclipse.org/Ganymede#Must_Do items 13, 14
It almost seems like, that STP does not qualify under http://wiki.eclipse.org/Ganymede#Must_Do item 2 "have a mature build process". We're 12 days from the 'final released bits' date and 2 days from the 'final build date' and STP doesn't have a good build that conforms to the must dos and "plays well with others".

Are we going to vote them off the island?

P.S. I really regret being the "heavy" here because I know that Oisin and the STP team are nice people, they are well intentioned, they are trying hard, but the facts are what the facts are.
