Mhm. When we had that discussion around the new plug-in versioning plan
exactly this concern was brought up in that discussion. AFAIK it was
turned down by saying something like "we can handle that". So now we
can't handle this?

I would prefer having version numbers. It gives people a clear meaning
that is easy to understand.

How do you want to classify maintenance releases? Eclipse Europa.1? Also
how do you want to ensure that people will recognize Europa as the
successor of Callisto? It's much easier using numbers.

I also support Ian's comments about Europa and Callisto being the names
for a complete bunch of great projects and not just one.
