re: [eclipse-dev] Eclipse 3.0 API status needed by Tues. Apr. 6

For the team that have already sent me the status of their API packages
and extension points, thank you. For those who have yet to do so, please
send me this info by tomorrow.

Thanks, jim

Subject
[eclipse-dev] Eclipse 3.0 API status needed by Tues. Apr. 6

As discussed in today's planning meeting, we need to be working to get the

Eclipse APIs and their specs into their final and finished state by M9.

The first step is to determine where we stand right now: Is the API
package or extension point ready to ship as is, or is there still further
work to be done on it before we ship it? The kind of work we're talking
about includes things like changing public method signatures, adding more
API methods, hiding implementation methods, and completing specs (Javadoc
or extension point schemas).

I've created an Eclipse 3.0 API Status page to track where we are:

http://www.eclipse.org/eclipse/development/apis/api-status-3_0.html

(and added a link from the main Eclipse Project Development page.)

Nightly builds later than N20040330 contain more update-to-date help books

that this week's integration build. The Reference sections of the
Platform, JDT, and PDE Plug-in Developer Guides contain links to all API
packages and extension points.

All component team leads please send me "ready to ship"/"needs work"
status of each of your component's API packages and extension points. I'll

update the page so that everyone can see how the APIs are coming to
closure.

Please send me this info by next Tuesday April 6.
