[eclipse-dev] Preview of Eclipse Instrumentation Framework posted

The Platform UI team has posted a preview of the new Eclipse
Instrumentation Framework off of our development resources page.
http://dev.eclipse.org/viewcvs/index.cgi/%7Echeckout%7E/platform-ui-home/instrumentation/index.html

The instrumentation framework allows developers and usability experts to
collect information about how people are using their applications by
sending back periodic reports to a central server.

The current preview release (v0.3) contains the instrumentation framework,
as well as data provider extensions for collecting information about
preference settings and perspective layout. An example instrumentation
extension collects these data and sends them to a folder in the local
filesystem. The framework also supports sending results to an FTP server.

For more details, see the readme.txt file in the download, as well as the
schemata for the dataProviders and instrumentation extension points (in
HTML form in the doc directory).

If you have comments about the instrumentation framework, please post them
to the platform-ui-dev mailing list.

Thanks,
Nick
