I reran the test a couple of times and was finally able to reproduce the hang. From the dump it looks like the VM is waiting in org.eclipse.core.internal.jobs.ImplicitJobs$ThreadJob.joinRun. I opened a bug report https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=42202 and attached the full VM dump.
