Re: [ecf-dev] ECF Tooling feedback

Thanks for the reports.

ECF dev team,
I had an opportunity to use the tooling to help troubleshoot a version issue and have some feedback.

1) In the RSA Manager view, when importing a remote service and it fails the imported endpoint shows as Error without any explanation.  If I open the Error View the explanation appears but this is not immediately obvious.

I've created bug [1] for this.   There are a couple of things I plan to do...one (as suggested by Tim) is to have the Error View open within the Remote Services perspective by default, and the other is to present more information in the RSA Manager view when an Error occurs (e.g. the error message itself rather than just 'Error', and perhaps the exception stack).

2) The view on the right hand side has Plug-in Registry as the title.  The documentation shows it as OSGI Services View

Yes.   As described on this bug comment [2] I have created an OSGi Services view at ECF's github site to replace the PDE RegistryBrowser view.   I haven't yet had time to complete it, and so it couldn't go with ECF 3.12.0.   When I created the docs I forgot that I was running it in my local workspace.   In any event, once the releng is completed to build it, we can deploy it either together with ECF future versions (along with remote osgi service registry viewers based upon it) or via ECF's github site.

3) There is no way to enable / disable the automatic discovery of services once the ECF capabilities have been imported.  In particular, SLP Discovery periodically shows in the progress bar.

I've created bug [3] for this.

  Thanks for the tooling!

Thanks for the comments and bug reports.
