[ecf-dev] 3.4M4a? and miscellany

Hi Folks,

I propose doing another milestone build (3.4M4a) next week...probably Dec 26. Reasons: 1) I missed/forgot to add the new Mylyn integration plugin to build, and it would be very good to have that in the distribution...if Remy thinks it is ready. 2) The p2 work is consuming the ECF filetransfer API, and a number of enhancements (e.g. asynch remote file system browsing) and a few bug fixes have just gone in since last friday (e.g. https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=213642). Also there is now much more test code for file transfer + providers, and it would be good use those new tests (which have some new dependencies) for p2 testing. 3) Ted found/resolved the issue with the Skype daily build (https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=212362) and now daily builds will be produced correctly. The M4 build is fine for Skype (the dailies have not been good for the past few weeks...just for Skype), but it would be nice to have another milestone build where we know from that point forward the dailies are good/OK.

Please let all know what you think.

Judith Merges, a graduate student has expressed interest in working with Mustafa and others on the ECF shared editing work. Specifically, she wants to contribute to the creation of a shared graphical editor. This sounds very exciting, and fits in great with our intended emphasis for ECF 2.0/Ganymede. Please welcome Judith as she begins participating through mailing list, newsgroup, bugs/enhancements, etc.

Also...please vote on the nomination of Jan Rellermeyer for ECF committer if you haven't already.

There won't be an ECF conference call next week...and I think since everyone will be on holiday Jan 1 I'll try to reschedule for Jan 2 or perhaps Jan 3 to synch up after holidays.

And, finally...have a joyous holiday next week (if you are into that kind of thing :).

Scott
