Re: [cross-project-issues-dev] More info about More Info?
|
You are free to point at any site you want. Presumably you want to be
helpful and link a page that provides more information about the feature in
question, rather than some general-purpose page that will not logically
expand on the short description embedded in the feature.
The only thing that comes up mind regarding this option not being used
often is lack of awareness among the feature providers.

Thanks Dejan and Oisin!
Would it be appropriate for DTP to link to our eclipse.org web site? I
checked a number of features from other projects, and they don't seem to be
using this option, so I'm wondering if there is a reason not to.

The description of 'more info' is in the feature XML specification. The
feature description is always provided as a body text but it can also
accept an option URL to a web resource containing more information about
the feature. Feature authors can point the feature at a web page, an online
help page (infocenter) or similar to read more about it than can fit the
short description. UM will open a currently configured browser to render
the document.

A question recently about the DTP update site:
The UM feature selection dialog has a "More Info" button (see attached
image), but it seems never to be enabled.... What is it supposed to be for,
and how can we use it? I looked through the documentation, but did not find
any description..
