Re: [concierge-dev] Concierge on mobile?

Hi Jörg,

Reading Concierge goals on project's web site it says:
Exploring new ways of integrating OSGi into mobile and embedded system stacks.

- what is the current status?
- has anyone e.g. tried running Concierge on a newer version of Android? (I tried it long time ago but I failed.)
- who is interested in running Concierge on mobile?

Personally I am using Concierge in Embedded environment, running on smaller gateways using JavaSE compact profiles.
I do not have any use cases on Android, so no experience with it.
@Tim Verbelen maybe you can add more here?

If it is not working:
- has someone investigated the problems already?
- should I create an issue for that?
I would say yes

Now that 5.1 is released and deployed on Maven Central 👍
what is planned next?
The plan is to soon have a first version of Concierge R6 working, which is compliant to OSGi TCK tests.
I also want to add support for execution environments for JavaSE 8 compact 1/2/3 profiles.

I will also update this project https://github.com/eclipse/smarthome-packaging-sample to use latest version and later compact profiles extensions for easier setup.

Besides that integrating it with Apache Karaf would be of interest, as then solutions like openHAB could give it a try to use Concierge in comparison to Felix or Equinox.

And we are always happy to get feedback about use-cases or additional requirements.

Bye, Jochen

Thanks,
Jörg
