Meeting Logistics
Due to vacation and travel schedules, meeting arrangements for next 3 weeks are:
Monday, September 25 - Paul is not available. Jason will chair and minute the meeting.
Monday, October 2 - Paul is not available. Jason will chair and minute the meeting.
Monday, October 9 - Meeting is cancelled.
BIRT 2.1.1
The BIRT 2.1.1 maintenance release continues to be planned for a September 29, 2006. This is a coordinated release with a number of other Eclipse projects (see http://wiki.eclipse.org/index.php/Callisto_Coordinated_Maintenance).
The development plan for the BIRT 2.1.1 release is available at: http://www.eclipse.org/birt/phoenix/project/project_plan_R2_1_1.php. All items already addressed in the release, or scheduled to be addressed can be found in Bugzilla.
All scheduled work has been completed and the development team are working day-to-day at this stage, addressing last minute issues as they are identified during testing.
As with previous releases, the final build will be created at or near the release date and an email sent to the BIRT PMC requesting final approval for the release.
BIRT 2.1.1 New and Notable
Since this is a maintenance release, there are no major new features although we have made incremental usability improvements in a number of areas. Jason is going to review the work in Bugzilla and check with the development teams to determine if a New and Notable document is needed. If it makes sense to have one, Jason will work on this.
MS Word Emitter Project
No update this week.
BIRT 2.2 Planning
We are working on a draft BIRT 2.2 Plan that will be distributed to the PMC this week for feedback.
Zend/PHP Integration with BIRT
In conjunction with Zend, Jason has developed components that allow BIRT reports to be called from the PHP scripting language. These were initially developed using BIRT 2.0 and Jason has just completed updating them to utilize BIRT 2.1. These now need to go through code review by the development team.
