Re: [babel-dev] web translation tool
 |
Jacek,
Thanks so much for your feedback. I've captured these great suggestions
in bugs so that we can track progress on them individually. Feel free
to cc yourself to the bugs.
a) a kind of scratchpad to store some common vocab - to keep
consistent way of naming things like "Launch configuration", "Debug",
etc. btw, I haven't realized how much words doesn't have any
reasonable native translations :|
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=217259
b) search for other similar entries. Sentences happen to repeat
frequently, but it's easy to forget how you translated the same
sentence last time (that's an alternative to a))
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=217260
c) some entries should not be translated (eg. PDE, JDT, etc.) - it
would be useful to mark them specially, to don't go back to them later.
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=217265
d) it would be good to track the overall progress per
file/project/language eg. by displaying percent done. But I guess
you're already thinking about that.

e) nice enhancement would be a separate page with random string and
input field. This way one could add it to bookmarks and get there fix
one or two translations every hour or two. Later on it could be used
the same way to verify existing translations.

f) files like *test*, build.properties could be skipped
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=217263
g) "Eclipse.org" could be automatically skipped (it's in every file)
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=217264
Keep 'em coming!
Denis
