Re: [asciidoc-wg] AsciiDoc Steering Committee - Committer Member Representatives - Election Announcement

Please note that only current committers (specifically those named in the proposal of the AsciiDoc Language project and who have completed the necessary agreements) that are not employees of a Partner Member company may be nominated. Once the projects are better established and can take on additional committees, this pool will broaden for the next election (likely early 2021).

Best Regards,

-Dan

The AsciiDoc Working Group Charter identifies the Steering Committee will drive the various facets of the working group for which there are elected positions to be filled.

In the case of AsciiDoc, the elected positions are for Committer Members for which there are three open seats. Note that Partner Members each have one representative appointed to the Steering Committee.

Through this email, we are announcing that the Eclipse Foundation will hold elections on behalf of the working group using the proposed timetable listed below as per the Steering Committee’s request. This mimics the process used by other working groups as well as the Eclipse Foundation itself for filling elected positions on our Board.

All members are encouraged to consider nominating a Committer Member for the positions, and self-nominations are more than welcome.  Nominations should be sent to this mailing list with the subject line of “AsciiDoc Working Group Steering Committee - Committer Member Election”.

Once nominations are closed, we will inform all working group members of the confirmed candidates, and will distribute ballots via email to those eligible to vote.  The election process will follow the Eclipse “Single Transferable Vote” method, as defined in the Eclipse Bylaws.

The winning candidates will be announced on this mailing list following the close of the election.

Election Schedule

Nomination period: September 7 - September 14, 2020 (self nominations are welcome)
Election period:  September 21 - 29, 2020
Winning candidates announced:  October 1, 2020

The following positions will be filled as part of this election:

Steering Committee

Three seats allocated to Committer Members

Should you have any questions, please feel free to post to the mailing list or contact the undersigned.
