We are excited to invite you to the 4days of Eclipse 4diac Winter School, taking place from February 10 to 14, 2025 in Linz. This event offers an in-depth exploration of IEC 61499 and Eclipse 4diac, designed for both newcomers eager to learn and expert users looking to deepen their knowledge and participate in inspiring discussions on automation.

What to Expect?

At the 4days of Eclipse 4diac Winter School, we believe in "no theory without hands-on experience". Every session includes practical workshops, enabling participants to apply their learning immediately in real-world scenarios.

Earn 3 ECTS Credits: Our program is also suitable for students in Master’s and PhD programs. By successfully completing the winter school, you'll earn 3 ECTS credits, which are internationally recognized and transferable across higher education institutions in Europe and beyond.

Preliminary Program Overview:

  • Developing IEC 61499 Solutions: Fundamentals of automation solutions with Eclipse 4diac.
  • Advanced Concepts of IEC 61499: Delve into advanced features for complex systems.
  • Fixing Your First Bug in Eclipse 4diac: A step-by-step guide for new contributors.
  • Extending 4diac IDE and FORTE: Learn customization and enhancement of the IDE and runtime environment.
  • Connecting Eclipse 4diac to Factory IO: Practical integration for simulation and testing.

Explore new topics like Programming UAO-based Devices, Industry Usage Reports, and OPC UA integration, and participate in sessions on the evolution of open-source software.

Special Sessions:

Building Bridges: Collaborating for Inclusion and Innovation in Open Source: Promoting diversity in open-source communities. 

From Revolutionary Idea to Mainstream: A session from the Eclipse Foundation.

We welcome up to 40 attendees from both industry and academia. Early bird registration is now open and available until January 26, 2025. Registrations are on a first-come, first-served basis, so secure your place early!

  • Early Bird Fee: EUR 570
  • Discounted Fee for Academics and Students: EUR 420
  • Late Registration (from January 27, 2025): EUR 700 (no academic discount)
  • Single Day Participation: EUR 150 (includes lunch and coffee break, but no social events)
