Re: [wtp-pmc] Where is the release schedule posted?

I agree with this suggestion.  The dates are not likely to change at all.  FWIW, I get asked when does such and such WTP release ALL the time.

These dates are pretty unlikely to change, right? Can we duplicate the information on a WTP release plan page? I'd like to see updating this information become part of the new release definition process.

I think any visitor to the WTP site should be able to easily see the scheduled release dates of the upcoming WTP releases.

http://www.eclipse.org/projects/timeline/

AFAIK, this is still the "correct" way to publish the information. However, nothing would preclude us from having a "Watch out for 1.5.3 shipping with Callisto Winter Update on February 16th, 2007" banner on our homepage in addition, and that might be a good idea. We can also push info out via the news feed in advance (we usually do it only at/after the ship).

I would (and have) argued that
www.eclipse.org/projects does not do a good job of exposing the Callisto/Europa release schedule to the world, and makes it unnecessarily hard to locate that critical information; this would be a great place for people to find the overarching schedule and the mapping into version numbers for the individual projects.

The Callisto winter schedule can be found at
http://wiki.eclipse.org/index.php/Callisto_Coordinated_Maintenance#When.3F but you'd have to be a serious insider to know that. I wish the EMO would make this more discoverable as well.

I want to bring an issue related to the transparency of WTP release plans to the attention of the PMC.

I was recently asked on what date WTP 1.5.3 will be released. The only resource I could find with an answer is [1]. This link was not easily found through the website. Furthermore, the milestone plan index [2] and milestone plan overview [3] for WTP 1.5.x are out of date and there are no links to similar documents for WTP 2.0.

I think we need to do a better job of publicizing our release plans to the community at large.
