This may have been discussed and dismissed as acceptable, but per the version number convention, any including feature must match the version bump of the feature that it’s including.

Gorkem,
The WTP PMC discussed the need for a version change in our last PMC meeting. The decision was made that it is correct for JSDT to do a major version change, but that WTP as a whole will still be shipped as 3.8.0 for Eclipse Neon. If you feel that there is a strong need for WTP to do a major version release, then we can discuss this further in our next PMC meeting. Thanks for making sure that we are aware of this concern.
Sincerely,
- Carl Anderson

Hi,
I would like to discuss if we need to make a major version change to the
next version of WTP.
In JSDT and SSE we are adding a few major features, you can see an
outline of changes in [1].
Since these are major new features and will possibly introduce breaks in
both functionality and APIs.
We are planning a major version change to JSDT[2].
I am not sure if there are other sub-projects with major changes. (I
heard that Dali may have some) but
would like to hear others' opinion
