Hello everyone,
I'm happy to announce that I've just promoted the latest milestone to the official 1.17.0 release, which can be consumed from either the Eclipse Marketplace or directly from the p2 update site:
https://download.eclipse.org/windowbuilder/updates/release/1.17.0
Highlight of this release is a general support for Windows ARM64, following up the earlier release of the Eclipse IDE for the same architecture, as well as the initial batch of updated icons for high-DPI monitors.
Internally, a lot of cleanup has been done, including the removal of classes in favor of native Java classes (e.g. RunnableObjextEx with Callable) and a restructuring of the image evaluator to contribute the handling of different types of images (SWT/Swing/Icons/Images/...)
via an extension point and also allow external tools to contribute their own handling. In terms of the GEF migration, a lot of the workarounds have been removed or at the very least been reduced over the course of this release, bringing us to a point where
a large chunk of Draw2D is now consumed directly from the upstream project.
The development cycle for the 1.18.0 release has already started and will conclude together with the 2024-12 SimRel release.
Many regards,
Patrick
