[udig-users] Creating street-name labels

I'm using uDig version 1.1.1 on Mac OS 10.5.8.

I'm working on a project with a layer containing city street centerlines. I want to superimpose street-name labels onto the centerlines.

The project has a .dbf table containing the street name associated with each centerline. Can I use this table to create the map labels I want? I'd appreciate any guidance.
