[udig-users] vector operations and attribute table management
|
Hello everyone. I have some questions about the future development for
vector and db operations in Udig, as I'm considering different Java
based OS GIS to be employed in my institute. I'm sorry for gettin a
bit long.
VECTORS
I know tha Axios is contributing to the development of the tools for
vector operations. At now I've seen only some basic spatial operations
in the downloadable plugin. Will the vector toolbox be improved
somehow? Are you considering Sextante for such development, or will
you rely on different libs?
I don't list the features I would expect from a GIS vector toolbox.
They're the one you can find in GRASS v.* commands, in Gvsig+Sextante,
QGis fTools plugin, etc.
TOPOLOGY SUPPORT
What is the state of topology support? I mean, topological editing and
topoloigcal rules.
ATTRIBUTE TABLES / DB
At the moment there's support for CQL queries. Are you considering to
delegate the other operations to external sw (like, i.e., Excel or
OpenCalc) to do field calculation, tables join, table management
(add-remove fields, for exemple), or is it in your roadmap?
Ok this is a short summary of the questions I would have done, but
I've seen the longer requests about the same arguments have been sent
in the past [1]. It's just to know the state of the art and what I
should expect from the future :-)
Thanks a lot,
Giovanni
