Re: [udig-dev] achievement unlocked: initial checkin

Here's how we can move forward:

0. After this process, you may need to re-clone the repo, as all the commits since the dawn of time will have new SHA1 hashes.

1. Add "eclipsewebmaster" as an admin/owner of the repo

2. Go to https://dev.eclipse.org/site_login/ to make sure your GitHub ID is associated with your Eclipse Foundation account.  We use this ID to sync the Locationtech committer list with the GitHub Team

3. Wait a bit while we stash the pre-initial-contribution to the _old namespace

4. Once out automations run, uDig committers will be invited to join the udig team on GitHub
--> We are not allowed to just add you to a team.  We can only invite you, and you must accept

5. Business as usual with the new repo.

Jody, when you're ready, please indicate what the name of the Initial contribution tag is, and we'll get going.

FWIW, this is the process we follow to stash history into a namespace called "_old":

Step 0 is to tag the initial contribution.  Let me know when you're ready (and what the tag is) and we'll get on it.

An update from the code sprint - we have the go-ahead for initial checkin.

A couple of things have changed since we started incubation:

1. We can use github (rather than Eclipse infrastructure)
2. We can keep project history on github (the internal eclipse mirror will not keep history)

With those changes in mind our transition should be very smooth.

I am not sure if we need to call a code freeze? I have provided a link to master, I am just not sure exactly when it will be moved over. However we can sort out what revision was used, and replay any subsequent commits into the new repository.
