Re: [udig-devel] udig-1.2 for linux and mac
Well, I'm probably going to need to build an installer within the next three months for my custom RCP app, and the requirements will be almost identical to installing standard uDIG, so I should try find time to look into this. For ubuntu, unlike gentoo, the packages are binary builds, so are automated versions of the manual instructions for installation.

gentoo want you to download the source code and compile it, in an
automated fashion.  But when/if I get that working it will probably
have lots of side benefits of making everything else a lot easier.

Also to Craig from my experience the real hard part of being a package
mainter is setting it up the first time and then documenting what you
did.  If you do that upgrades are a lot easier.
