Many many many of the WMS layers available from a search fail, either silently or noisily.
Open up uDig.
Search view.
Enter 'landsat'.
Drag 'dlwc_landsat_2000_mosaic' into edit area.
(a) no feedback at all while capabilities are retreived
(b) either layer does not get added or you get a popup error about unicode
Simple testing procedure:
Search for 'landsat', drag random layer in, see what happens, if good things happen, delete and repeat.
