Re: [tycho-user] Support for 64-bit ARM Builds
|
In general there are two aspects where the environment comes into play:
- you are building a product that includes native launcher, you require
a SDK that includes proper launcher artifacts in your target platform
- you are building a bundle/feature/product that references platform
specific artifacts (e.g. SWT)
If I take a look at [1] (Platform Runtime Binary/SWT Binary and Source)
it seems for me that AArch64 is only available for *linux* and not
specifically for *macosx* so
<environment>
<os>linux</os>
<ws>gtk</ws>
<arch>aarch64</arch>
</environment>
would be your only choice at the moment (don't know if that is
compatible with new 64-bit ARM (M1) Macs).

Hi all,
first of all, thanks for the development of Tycho! It reliably builds my
Eclipse products for many years now.
A user reported that it is not possible to start the product on the new
64-bit ARM (M1) Macs, so I tried to build a corresponding variant.
I added a new environment entry in the target-platform-configuration
plugin like this:
<environment>
<os>macosx</os>
<ws>cocoa</ws>
<arch>aarch64</arch>
</environment>
I played around with the architecture identifiers, e.g. arm64, arm_64
but none of those work. Am I using the wrong identifier or is this not
supported yet? If the latter is the case, can I do anything to help
apart from opening a feature request? From what I gathered so far from
the forums/bug reports the problem is not the runtime itself but rather
that ARM-specific SWT libraries are required, is this correct?
Thanks and best regards
Dave
