Is it possible to use the API of the artifact tycho-core in my own maven plugin?

I want to read an Eclipse target file and extract all p2 repositories and their containing feature ids. Tycho is doing this already and I thought to use the Tycho API to read my target file.

Is this possible or should I use a differnt API?
