[tycho-user] target-platform-plugin performance

I'm trying to use the target-platform-plugin in my Tycho build to be able to have the same target definition in my Eclipse as I have in my Tycho build, so I set up the "target-platform-configuration" plugin according to http://wiki.eclipse.org/Tycho/Target_Platform, but when I try to run, it takes forever (several times longer) to resolve the target platforms, compared to using "<repository>...</repository>". The .target file used are using the same p2 repositories (locally p2 mirrors of http://download.eclipse.org/) as the <repository>...</repository> configuration, so why is it so slow?
