[tracecompass-dev] New and Noteworthy March 2016

Hi,

See below for the New & Noteworthy and ongoing work of the Trace Compass project for March 2016.

New and Noteworthy:

  • Trace Compass release 1.2 as part of Mars.2 (see [1])
  • Trace Compass 2.0/Neon release track (see [2]):
    • Add time graph marker axis for marker labels with the possibility to minimize and hide marker categories
    • Add periodic marker source base implementation
    • Use a symbol provider to locate symbols in Call Stack view
    • Import traces as experiment for local and LTTng remote import
    • Introduce execution contexts in Resources view
    • Add CPU states under Resources View aggregated IRQ entries
    • Introduce CPU and thread in trace context for filtering. It is now possible to follow a single thread from the Control Flow view using the context-sensitive menu. The Critical Path view is the first view that uses this information.
    • Improved UI for filtering in Events Table
    • Good progress on data-driven pattern analysis integration

Ongoing work:

  • Trace Compass release 1.2.1 bug fix release (Friday March 25, 2016)
  • Continue integrating data-driven pattern detection (enhanced filtering)
  • Support for switching between flat and hierarchical presentation of processes in Control Flow view
  • Support searching in Time Graph views
  • Support for collapse/expand all in Time Graph views
  • Address segment store scalability
  • Integration with LTTng Babeltrace Python analyses to be able to output the results of these external analyses into Trace Compass
  • Analysis requirements enhancements
