Is the old plan linked from anywhere?

Unless there are compelling reasons to do otherwise, I'd rather just stick with the new plan captured in the PMI.

As far as I am concerned, there's no reason to update the old plan document (it has historical value).

You may want to update the project metadata on the portal to reflect reality of the 2.1.0 release:
