Re: [technology-pmc] Re: Please schedule an archive review for the ALFproject

Hi Brian,

We are happy to work with you to schedule your Archive Review. Please see this page for a detailed description of the steps in the review process: http://wiki.eclipse.org/Development_Resources/HOWTO/Review_Information_for_Project_Leads#Archive_Reviews

We already have Wayne's PMC approval for the review, so you can disregard that part. If you have any questions after reading the wiki page and referenced documentation, just let me know. Thanks.

Anne, Wayne, et al,

Yes, Wednesday November 12th works fine. I will assemble the slides,
though may want to pass a draft by you prior to the review.

I looked over the sample slides (and thank you for providing the
sample), but did not see any timframes or schedule for the archiving
mentioned. My impression from earlier exchanges on this mailing list is
that we can propose a timetable that will assure an orderly closing of
the project. I ask because of the following:

Last week I participated in the Eclipse Higgins Face-to-Face meeting in
Waltham, MA and presented the case for transferring the ALF SSO
components to the Higgins project. By way of background, ALF has always been working closely with Higgins, mainly as a consumer of Higgins. ALF
has built technology that nicely complemented the STS, and in fact,
constitutes the bulk of the the code in the Eclipse ALF CVS repository.
That contribution of code and corresponding committers from ALF to
maintain the code was well received by Higgins leadership and the F2F
participants, and I know enjoys broader support.

I would appreciate guidance on how to effect that contribution and would
like to see the archiving schedule accommodate that.

Any advise on how to best accomplish that contribution would be
appreciated, especially where it relates to the timing of the
contribution vs the archiving process. In this case, the code is
already in Eclipse CVS and the bulk of the IP due dilligence has been
completed.

Regards,
Brian

Sounds good to me.

Brian, does this date work? Can you assemble some slides for the archive
review?

There's an example here [1].

I can do it, if you'd rather.

Thanks,

Wayne

Certainly. How about Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 8am PT?

Also, will you be acting as project lead for the review, or will
someone from the ALF project be doing that? Thanks.
